How to make a blast furnace in Minecraft

Learn how to craft a blast furnace in Minecraft and speed up your smelting process! Here's a step-by-step guide on the required ingredients and process.

To make a blast furnace in Minecraft, you will need the following ingredients:

  1. 1 Furnace
  2. 5 Iron Ingots
  3. 3 Smooth Stones

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to craft a blast furnace:

  1. Craft a regular furnace using 8 cobblestones in a 3×3 crafting grid. Place the cobblestones in an “O” shape, leaving the center square empty[1].
  2. Obtain 5 iron ingots. You can get these by smelting iron ore in a furnace.
  3. Create 3 smooth stones by smelting cobblestone in a furnace to get stone, and then smelting the stone again to get smooth stone.
  4. Open the crafting table and place the furnace in the center square of the 3×3 crafting grid.
  5. Place 3 smooth stones in the bottom row of the crafting grid.
  6. Place an iron ingot in each of the top row squares and one on either side of the furnace in the middle row[2].

Once you have crafted the blast furnace, you can use it to smelt ores, raw metals, and metal armor and tools twice as fast as a regular furnace. However, it cannot smelt anything else[3]. To use the blast furnace, simply place the item and fuel on top of it, and it will change its state to ‘lit’ and start smelting[4].
