I recently used the Cobra RAD 480i Laser Radar Detector and have been using it for a few weeks now. Overall, I am quite satisfied with this product. Here are some of my thoughts:
The detector is priced at $149.95. It has a long-range detection capability and can detect signals from both the front and rear of your vehicle using Cobra’s new LaserEye technology. The detector also has access to the iRadar app, which provides real-time alerts to red light, speed camera, and law enforcement activity from a community of over three million drivers .
One of the pros of this detector is that it is very easy to use. The iRadar app is user-friendly and provides accurate alerts. The detector also has a long-range detection capability, which means you will be alerted to potential threats well in advance. Another pro is that it is compatible with smartphones and can be connected via Bluetooth.
Pros:
- Long range detection: The RAD 480i has a long detection range, which gives me plenty of time to slow down when approaching a speed trap.
- Bluetooth and iRadar app: The Bluetooth connectivity allows me to connect the detector to my phone and use the iRadar app. This app provides real-time alerts from other users in the area, which is a nice feature.
- LaserEye front and rear detection: The front and rear detection is a great feature that helps me detect speed traps from all directions.
- Next Gen IVT Filtering: The filtering system helps reduce false alerts, which is a common issue with radar detectors.
However, there are also some cons to this detector. One of the cons is that it does not have GPS technology or location lockouts. This means that you will receive alerts for false alarms in areas where you have previously received them. Another con is that it can be difficult to read the OLED display in bright sunlight.
